On 4 December 2019, our vessel M.V. African Grouse was contacted by the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) in Canberra, Australia to assist 2 men onboard a small fibreglass vessel in distress and adrift off the Solomon Islands. Upon receiving the urgent request M.V. African Grouse diverted from her voyage and was the first vessel on location to act as the on-scene commander to coordinate the rescue with the RCC. Both men and their vessel were successfully rescued and taken to Honiara, the capital of Solomon Islands, on board the LC Marama Senikabuta.
